A security thread is a stripe (plastic, metal or other material) embedded in the structure of the paper during manufacture process in order to be an additional security element. There are a wide range of different security threads, from laminated polymers stripes, covered with metal, coloured and micro printed, to very complex threads that can be read by special devices, such as magnetic or holographic security threads.
